The young clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations."

She was right -- our generation didn't have the green thing in its day.

Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilised and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were truly recycled. This was to ensure that public property, (the books provided for our use by the school) was not defaced by our scribbling's. Then we were able to personalise our books on the brown paper bags. But too bad we didn't do the green thing back then.

We walked up stairs, because we didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks. But she was right. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy-gobbling machine burning up 220 volts -- wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our early days. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing. But that young lady is right; we didn't have the green thing back in our day.

Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana.

In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by hand because we didn't have electric machines to do everything for us. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull. But we didn't have the green thing back then.

Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service. We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances.

Botanical Medicine 2

Unfortunately, this separation of herbs from their ‘drug actions’ was the fall from grace of the medical profession. Not only was the active principle found to be much more potent than the herb from which it was obtained, it was also usually found to be much more dangerous, with more profound toxic effects. These toxic effects were termed ‘side effects,’ but in reality were merely the normal reaction of the active principle in the body acting in ways other than that desired by the physician. With the development of drugs came an increase in diseases caused by medication. It is now estimated that at least one third of all diseases are iatrogenic or the result of medication given to treat disease.

The use of botanical medicine, or preparations derived from the entire complex of the botanical part used, is usually safer but slower in action than orthodox drug therapy. By utilizing not only the so-called ‘active principle’ but also the ‘associated factors’ which naturally occur in the plant, the practitioner of botanical medicine has been spared most of the problems of drug-related diseases. The beneficial use of a botanical preparation in fact does not rest solely with the active principle, of which there maybe several for a single herb, but usually in total interaction of all constituents.

It is, however, a common misconception that botanical medications are completely safe and nontoxic. For the most part this is true if herbs are used in their proper doses; however any medicine can cause toxic reactions when used improperly. The use of herbs such as thyme, sage, rosemary, dill, ginger and garlic in cooking and seasoning is an example of how widespread the safe use of herbs really is in daily life. Herbal teas now abound in most food stores and are used as pleasant tasting drinks or to obtain mild botanical effects such as the calmative effects of chamomile, or the digestive benefits of peppermint. Even commonly used herbal teas, however, should really be reserved for medicinal use and not taken routinely. Such commonly used herbs as comfrey, goldenseal or lobelia can cause toxic reactions and a knowledge of botanical toxicology, therefore, is essential before one tries to treat disease with herbs. Even with this warning in mind it can be fairly said that botanical medicine is usually safer and more therapeutic than the use of drugs when prescribed and monitored properly.

Most people are aware that brown rice is a nutritional powerhouse, especially when compared to white rice. However, black rice may be an even greater dynamo, as research shows it contains all the health benefits of brown rice plus some impressive additional ones that may fight disease and extend life.

Health benefits of brown rice

Brown rice is plentiful in fiber and contains all the essential fatty acids, as well as phosphorus, manganese and iron. It also provides antioxidants, in addition to vitamins B1, B3, B6 and E. All of these nutrients are within the outer layer that is stripped away in the process of making white rice. Research shows this outer layer may help protect against high blood pressure and atherosclerosis.

Scientists at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia and the Nagaoka National College of Technology in Japan believe this outer layer may hinder the harmful action of angiotensin II, a protein that adds to the development of high blood pressure and atherosclerosis.

The superiority of black rice over brown

As beneficial as brown rice is, black rice is even more valuable because it is a unique source of large quantities of antioxidants, particularly an important one called anthocyanin. Present in dark blue, red and purple foods, anthocyanins are more plentiful in this type of rice than in blueberries.

Black rice, a popular food in China, is linked with a reduction in heart disease and cancer, as well as diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease. It has also been postulated that the food has anti-aging properties.

Black rice antioxidants extend the lives of fruit flies

Recently, researchers from The Chinese University in Hong Kong examined the effects of black rice's antocyanins on fruit flies . After feeding the insects black rice extract, their lifespan was lengthened by 14 percent. Aside from this evidence of a longer lifespan, the findings showed the extract decreased the expression of a certain gene, an effect that has previously been found to increase longevity.

In addition to the effect on lifespan, black rice extract also increased the expression of a gene that hinders progressive neurodegeneration. In a second phase of the study, researchers fed the extract to flies that had exposure to a weedkiller that produces degeneration of nervous tissue. They tested a group of normal flies, along with a group of flies with the Alzheimer’s gene. Findings revealed that the lives of one group of normal flies were extended, as well as the lives of one group of Alzheimer’s flies.

The scientists involved in the study state that it is too soon to conclude black rice extract can stop the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. However, Zhimin Xu, who has researched colored rice bran at Louisiana State University, notes that if the number of flies studied could be expanded to 2,000 rather than 200, he would expect the lifespan difference to be more significant. In any case, the research confirms that black rice bran is indeed beneficial for health.

Vinegar is not just for fish and chips anymore; in fact, the uses of vinegar are endless. Vinegar has many uses around the home that most people are probably unaware. Every household should keep a bottle of vinegar in stock because it will eventually come in handy. There are many common uses of vinegar around the house and here are a few examples...

Clean Your Computer

Vinegar has several elements which make it a good cleanser.

It has a well-known ability to disinfect. You can clean your computer, printer, fax machine, and other office gear with vinegar and water.

Turn off all the components and mix equal parts of vinegar and water in a bucket.

Wet a cloth in the solution and ring it out.

The earliest written records of nearly all civilizations mention the use of herbs for healing. Throughout human history there has been a close relationship between people and plants. Botany and medicine have always been closely associated. The Pentsao, or Great Herbal of China, which dates around 3000 B.C. discusses herbal treatments in detail. Another early herbal is the Ebers Papyrus of 1500 B.C., which lists over 800 botanical prescriptions used in various disorders. Early Greek literature also has many references to the medical use of plants. Hippocrates (460- 355 B.C.) was the first to list plants by there use. Several lists of pharmaceutically active plants were made throughout Greek history. The first attempt at publication of a materia medica, however, was not made until the early 1500s A.D. by Paracelsus. The first official pharmacopoeia, most of botanical origin, appeared in 1564. The earliest one in English was the first United States pharmacopoeia, published in 1820. Currently over 50 per cent of all new prescriptions written in the United States contain at least one ingredient either produced directly from plants, or discovered from plant sources and later synthesized.

Modern medicine draws its origin from early herbal therapies. Until the advent of ‘synthetic’ medicine within the past 70 to 120 tears, all medical doctors prescribed herbs rout. Later research into the chemistry of plants and plant products isolated what was considered the ‘active principle’ from plants. The active principles were described as drugs whose names often still reflect their botanical origins. A commonly know example of this is Digitalis purpurea (foxglove). This herb has been used as a heart stimulant in folk medicine for centuries prior to the isolation of its active principle, digitoxin. Another example is the isolation of reserpine from Rauwolfia serpentine (Indian snakeroot),a plant native to India and clearly described for its pharmacological uses in the Vedas, India’s earliest written records dating from1500 B.C.

Within the decade 1940 to 1950 hundreds of new ‘wonder drugs’ were discovered, nearly all of them of botanical origin. The amazing thing about the ‘discovery of these potent and clearly therapeutic drugs was not their existence, since written history was literally pregnant with specific examples testifying to the medicinal use of plants, but rather how long modern researchers took to investigate them. Unfortunately this practice has continued to this day.

This information was sent to me via an email. I do not drive, but I have family and friends that do drive. I feel that this information is worth sharing. Many of you are not included in my address book in my email account and some of you are not using Facebook...so I'm sharing in here as well as on those sites...this is just that important.

How to achieve good vision while driving during a heavy downpour.

We are not sure why it is so effective; just try this method when it rains heavily. This method was given me by a Police officer who had experienced and confirmed it. It is useful....even driving at night. One method used by Canadian Military Drivers for years.

Most of the motorists would turn on HIGH or FASTEST SPEED of the wipers during heavy downpour, yet the visibility in front of the windshield is still bad......

In the event you face such a situation, just try your SUN GLASSES
(any model will do), and miracle! All of a sudden, your visibility in front of your windshield is perfectly clear, as if there is no rain.

Make sure you always have a pair of SUN GLASSES in your car, as you are not only helping yourself to drive safely with good vision, but also might save your friend's life by giving him this idea..

Try it yourself and share it with your friends! Amazing, you still see the drops on the windshield, but not the sheet of rain falling.

You can see where the rain bounces off the road. It works to eliminate the "blindness" from passing semi's spraying you too.

Or the "kickup" if you are following a semi or car in the rain. They ought to teach that little tip in driver's training. It really does work...

This next warning is a another good one! I wonder how many people know about this:

A 36 year old female had an accident several weeks ago and totaled her car. A resident of Kinburn , Ontario was traveling between Kinburn & Ottawa. It was raining, though not excessively, when her car suddenly began to hydro-plane and literally flew through the air.. She was not seriously injured but very stunned at the sudden occurrence!

When she explained to the OPP Officer what had happened he told her something that every driver should know - NEVER DRIVE IN THE RAIN WITH YOUR CRUISE CONTROL ON . She thought she was being cautious by setting the cruise control and maintaining a safe consistent speed in the rain. But the Officer told her that if the cruise control is on when your car begins to hydro-plane and your tires lose contact with the pavement, your car will accelerate to a higher rate of speed making you take off like an airplane She told the OPP Officer that was exactly what had occurred.

The Officer said this warning should be listed, on the driver's seat Sun-visor - NEVER USE THE CRUISE CONTROL WHEN THE PAVEMENT IS WET OR ICY, along with the airbag warning. We tell our teenagers to set the cruise control and drive a safe speed - but we don't tell them to use the cruise control only when the pavement is dry.

The only person the accident victim found, who knew this (besides the officer), was a man who had a similar accident, totalled his car and sustained severe injuries.

NOTE: Some vehicles (like the Toyota Sienna Limited XLE) will not allow you to set the cruise control when the windshield wipers are on.

I received one of those forwarded emails the other day from a friend. You know the type – it's usually a hoax. This was a new one I had not seen, so I went to Snopes.com

to see if it was real or not. Snopes is a great place to find the truth behind these hard-to-believe emails.

The email stated that lemons are 10,000 times stronger than chemotherapy. Now that's powerful! But is it true?

Well, according to Snopes, that's quite the exaggeration. Yes, lemons have some anti-cancer abilities. Most citrus fruits do. But 10,000 times more powerful than chemo? The evidence isn't there to back it up. The email that makes this claim offers a study from an unnamed major drug manufacturer as evidence. Why leave out the name of the company?

I went looking for a study that proves the claim. I can't find it. I found a bunch of studies that compare lemon peel and orange peel to chemotherapy. But none that say it's 10,000 times stronger.

The email goes on to say that "after more than 20 laboratory tests since 1970, the extracts revealed that: It destroys the malignant cells in 12 cancers, including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreas." This was easier to prove. There are plenty of studies showing how effective these citrus fruits are in treating cancer. It's not surprising since high-dose intravenous vitamin C is a powerful cancer treatment. And these fruits are packed with vitamin C.

However, vitamin C isn't the only nutrient in citrus peels that work against cancer. One study published in the journal Nutrition and Cancer showed the power of citrus peel to prevent cancer. It said the peels are a major source of dietary d-limonene, which is a known cancer fighter. This oil has loads of science behind it (and not just for cancer) - which I'll tell you about in future issues of Nutrient Insider.

For now, know that eating citrus fruit and taking supplements with citrus compounds is a great way to prevent cancer - but we don't know if it's 10,000 times more powerful than chemo.

Not sure how to eat the lemon peel? The email on Snopes had a great suggestion. All you have to do is freeze the lemon. Then grate or shred the lemon and add it to your foods (salads, fish, etc.). It's easy (especially if you have a food processor), tastes great, and extremely good for you.

Your insider for better health,

Some had to be carried in, some in a wheel chair, some walked ever so slowly with the help of their carers. I watched as some were flailing arms and legs, some were agitated, some had fear written on their faces. I wondered what went wrong, was it a freak of nature, and was it a lack of oxygen at birth. You know there’s only a hairs width between these individuals and the norm. It takes a certain type of person with a caring heart to attend to these people.

The Swiss Nature Doctor

Dr H.C. Vogel was a living monument to good health. In addition to enjoying, to the full, physical and mental activities, he was always busy about the work he loved so much. Rising early in the moring, before dawn he spent his first few hours answering mail, beside writing a monthly health magazine he found time to supervise the six large herb and fruit gardens that are dotted around Switzerland, in the lush valleys and high in the Engadine mountains. He was in great demand as a speaker and was well known on the lecture circuit where he spoke before clinics, medical groups, and many organizations dedicated to better health all over the world. In addition to his native land he appeared before various groups in Germany, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway, Australia, South Africa and many parts of the United States as well as in Central and Souh America. He is particularly known as a champion of “good health through good nourishment”. His treatment of the ill and ailing through naturopathy, a system of treatment of disease emphasizing assistance to nature and including the use of natural plant extracts and tinctures, established him as an expert nature doctor.

His extensive background and training sets him apart as a peer among his contemporaries and Dr. Vogel commanded the respect and confidence of all who knew him for his mature grasp and analysis of human ailments and how to cope with them.

At a very early age he learned to be on familiar terms with plants and animals. He was a third generation herbalist, following in the footsteps of his grandmother and father, who were themselves, were well known in the field of naturopathy. His close association with them helped him immeasurably in becoming well acquainted with all the middle European plants and herbs. Further knowledge acquired in school helped him lay a solid foundation for his eminent career, but he has always maintained the Nature was his favorite university.

As a youth, his interests led him to many and strange foreign countries to study the effects of nutrition, mode of life and the health of primitive people. His experiences in Africa, Asia and the Americas (North, Central, and South), the Orient and the Middle East proved to him that greater success can be achieved by Nature with skillful assistance and direction than by all the physical and chemical arts of man.

For many years Dr. Vogel operated a clinic in Switzerland serving patients from many different countries and he had by reason of his wide experience, become convinced of the superiority and success of combating ailments through natural, biological methods in conjunction with carefully chosen diets. His stamina and vigor commanded attention wherever he went.

"If you need answers or you are confused about what to do next in your life, I have some exciting news for you! You already have the ability to tap into your own inner guidance to get the answers you need."

If you are not using this valuable personal resource, it is because you never learned how to access this wisdom or you have forgotten to put this skill into action. Let me encourage you to do whatever it takes to develop your intuitive power. This resource from God is a vital skill in today's world. Listed below are 7 reasons for you to develop your intuitive power.

Be Prepared In Today's Changing World!

The one consistent variable in today's world is change. Weather patterns are changing. Economies are transformed seemingly overnight. Job security is a thing of the past. The threat of terrorist attacks is very real. In these shifting times, you need immediate answers to problems that sometimes seem beyond your personal knowledge.

Developing your intuitive power will let you make instant decisions that can protect your life. One student used his intuitive power to discover the safest path through the floods of 1994. Following his inner guidance, he and his wife were able to safely by-pass the flood waters rising in the Mid-west and travel unhurt through this devastating natural disaster.

Stop Being Disappointed In Relationships!

Would you like to access your intuitive wisdom before you take action in a new relationship? Would you like to know ahead of time if you are compatible with a potential partner? Well, you can. Your inner self can guide you about the best action to take.

As you develop your intuitive power and learn to follow your instincts, you will have less heartache and more joy in your life. When I first met my husband, I knew immediately that I would marry him. My inner guidance confirmed this fact, and we were married two years later.

Make Better Financial Decisions!

Your intuitive power can assist you in making better financial decisions. If you are trying to decide between two sound investments let your intuitive power guide you. Using your intuitive power, you can discern which investment would be best for you.

Your intuition can give you the added edge you need to make it in the financial world. By following his intuitive guidance, one student was led to a wonderful financial advisor who has helped him make sound and lucrative investments for his family's future.

Get The Best Advice About Diet, Exercise and Health!

Everyday you hear new advice about the one diet or exercise regime that will make you healthy and more attractive. Unfortunately, this advice often contradicts what you last heard. With all the scientific jargon, it is hard to make a good decision about what will work best for you. As you develop your intuitive power, you will be able to consult your mind/body directly to get information about the best actions to take to create a healthy, energetic, attractive body.

A certified national nutrition consultant instructs her clients to use their bodies' own intelligence when making nutritional decisions. She teaches the very same techniques that are available in the Developing Your Intuitive Power program. As you develop your intuitive power, you can let your body guide you into the proper diet and exercise for this stage in your life.

Discover Your Life's Purpose!

If you are like most people, you have a sense of a greater purpose in your life even if you do not know what it is. You know you are here to make a contribution but you do not know where to begin.

Developing your intuitive power will allow you to know your higher purpose in life. You can discover what you are here to do and what actions you should take today to accomplish your goal.

One student was led by her inner guidance to apply for a job that opened up a whole new career, giving her greater job satisfaction and allowing her to make a greater contribution to society.

Finding Missing Items With Ease!

Developing your intuitive power will help you overcome a poor memory, assist you in finding lost items and answer those nagging questions about things you might have forgotten to do. Your inner awareness can access your memory, helping you to locate whatever you have misplaced.

Stop the panic and anxiety about missing items. Simply ask your intuitive power to guide you, and you will immediately have whatever information you need.

Nancy, one of our students, used her intuitive power to ascertain the location of her purse. Instead of going into a panic, she simply asked her intuitive power for the answer. Following the directions she received, she was led right to her missing purse.

Never Need A Psychic Again!

Today, more and more people are contacting psychics through one of the ever-increasing number of psychic hotlines. Unfortunately, these hotlines are costly, and you can never be sure the person at the other end of the line is a legitimate psychic. More importantly, you cannot always pick up the phone at the time you need to make a crucial decision in your life. By learning to develop your intuitive power you will never need to use a psychic again.

It records a vision in which the prophet is shown a renewed Jerusalem, so full of people that it overspreads its walls. It will attract countless Gentiles as well, a thought that must have sounded very strange to the people. Verse 10 begins with a call to joy, followed by the reason for such jubilation: the personal coming of the Lord to live among His people.

The Lord’s dramatic return to dwell in His rebuilt house is cause for praise for those who have returned from exile. Zion, the dwelling place of the great King, is called “Daughter of Zion,” a prophetic term of endearment. In view of its glorious prospect, Zion is invited to rejoice, because the Lord Himself will take care of its people. Anyone who touches God’s people touches the pupil of His own eye(vs. 8).

The prophet said that in the day of the Lord, many non-Hebrew nations will come and join themselves to the Lord’s covenant. God’s original plan was that the people of the surrounding nations would see how Israel’s service to the true God results in blessings and prosperity; thus, they would be led to join themselves to the Lord. In this way the remnant of Israel and the believing Gentiles would together become one people, in whose midst the Lord Himself dwells. This event would fulfill God’s promise to Abram and Sarah that through their posterity, all the nations of the world will be blessed (Gen. 12:1-3).

How was this prophecy to be fulfilled? (Rom. 15:9-18, Eph. 3:1-8).

Through Zechariah’s prophecy, God promises not the destruction of the nations but their inclusion among God’s covenant people. The promised future is the result of God’s own initiative and was the longing of many biblical prophets. Jesus Christ commissioned His church to preach the good news to the whole world of the salvation that is to be found for everyone in Jesus, if they accept it for themselves. The apostle Paul called this plan of the Lord “the mystery hidden for long ages past” (Rom. 16:25, NIV).

How should our understanding of the universality of the gospel message, and the idea that it is for all humanity impact how we live; that is, how much of our lives, our time, and our thoughts are focused on reaching the world with the wonderful truths that we have been given?

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE MAGIC!

So many uses for this, that I thought I would like to share this list from Healthy Natural .

Ever since I started using Hydrogen Peroxide to get rid of armpit stains, to clean cookie sheets, as a miracle cleaner in my kitchen and bathroom, and to make my own “oxi clean”…I ALWAYS have at least one bottle of the stuff under my kitchen sink, under my bathroom sink, AND in the laundry room. This stuff is amazingly versatile!

But it wasn’t until recently, after doing some IN DEPTH research on the subject, that I came to realize what a “miracle substance” hydrogen peroxide really is! It’s safe, it’s readily available, it’s cheap, and best of all, it WORKS! It works for a LOT of stuff!

Hydrogen peroxide should really be called oxygen water, since it is basically the same chemical make up as water but with an extra oxygen atom (H2O2). Because of this it breaks down quickly and harmlessly into oxygen and water.

Some other interesting facts about hydrogen peroxide:

It is found in all living material.
Your white blood cells naturally produce hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) to fight bacteria and infections.
Fruit and vegetables naturally produce hydrogen peroxide. This is one of the reasons why it is so healthy to eat fresh fruit and vegetables.
It is found in massive dosages in the mother’s first milk, called colostrum, and is transferred to the baby to boost their immune system.
It is found in rain water because some of the H20 in the atmosphere receives an additional oxygen atom from the ozone (O3) and this H2O2 makes plants grow faster.
Next to Apple Cider Vinegar, hydrogen peroxide ranks up there as one of the best household remedies.

Besides the obvious (cleansing wounds), did you know that it is probably the best remedy to dissolve ear wax? Brighten dingy floors? Add natural highlights to your hair? Improve your plants root systems? The list goes on and on!

There are SO many uses for this stuff that I’ve started replacing the cap on the hydrogen peroxide bottle with a sprayer because it’s easier and faster to use that way.

I have compiled a rather impressive list of uses for 3% hydrogen peroxide that I hope will have you as thrilled and bewildered as I was!

Wash vegetables and fruits with hydrogen peroxide to remove dirt and pesticides. Add 1/4 cup of H2O2 to a sink of cold water. After washing, rinse thoroughly with cool water.

In the dishwasher, add 2 oz. to your regular detergent for a sanitizing boost. Also, beef up your regular dish soap by adding roughly 2 ounces of 3% H2O2 to the bottle.

Use hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash to freshen breath. It kills the bacteria that causes halitosis. Use a 50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water.

Use baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to make a paste for brushing teeth. Helps with early stages of gingivitis as it kills bacteria. Mixed with salt and baking soda, hydrogen peroxide works as a whitening toothpaste.

Soak your toothbrush in hydrogen peroxide between uses to keep it clean and prevent the transfer of germs. This is particularly helpful when you or someone in your family has a cold or the flu.

Clean your cutting board and countertop. Let everything bubble for a few minutes, then scrub and rinse clean. (I’ve been using it for this a LOT lately!)

Wipe out your refrigerator and dishwasher. Because it’s non-toxic, it’s great for cleaning places that store food and dishes.

Clean your sponges. Soak them for 10 minutes in a 50/50 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and warm water in a shallow dish. Rinse the sponges thoroughly afterward.

Remove baked-on crud from pots and pans. Combine hydrogen peroxide with enough baking soda to make a paste, then rub onto the dirty pan and let it sit for a while. Come back later with a scrubby sponge and some warm water, and the baked-on stains will lift right off.

Whiten bathtub grout. First dry the tub thoroughly, then spray it liberally with hydrogen peroxide. Let it sit — it may bubble slightly — for a little while, then come back and scrub the grout with an old toothbrush. You may have to repeat the process a few times.

Clean the toilet bowl. Pour half a cup of hydrogen peroxide into the toilet bowl, let stand for 20 minutes, then scrub clean.

Remove stains from clothing, curtains, and tablecloths. Hydrogen peroxide can be used as a pre-treater for stains — just soak the stain for a little while in 3% hydrogen peroxide before tossing into the laundry. You can also add a cup of peroxide to a regular load of whites to boost brightness. It’s a green alternative to bleach, and works just as well.

Brighten dingy floors. Combine half a cup of hydrogen peroxide with one gallon of hot water, then go to town on your flooring. Because it’s so mild, it’s safe for any floor type, and there’s no need to rinse.

Clean kids’ toys and play areas. Hydrogen peroxide is a safe cleaner to use around kids, or anyone with respiratory problems, because it’s not a lung irritant. Spray toys, toy boxes, doorknobs, and anything else your kids touch on a regular basis.

Help out your plants. To ward off fungus, add a little hydrogen peroxide to your spray bottle the next time you’re spritzing plants.

Add natural highlights to your hair. Dilute the hydrogen peroxide so the solution is 50% peroxide and 50% water. Spray the solution on wet hair to create subtle, natural highlights.

According to alternative therapy practitioners, adding half a bottle of hydrogen peroxide to a warm bath can help detoxify the body. Some are skeptical of this claim, but a bath is always a nice way to relax and the addition of hydrogen peroxide will leave you – and the tub – squeaky clean!

Spray a solution of 1/2 cup water and 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide on leftover salad, drain, cover and refrigerate. This will prevent wilting and better preserve your salad.

Sanitize your kids’ lunch boxes/bags.

Dab hydrogen peroxide on pimples or acne to help clear skin.

Hydrogen peroxide helps to sprout seeds for new plantings. Use a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution once a day and spritz the seed every time you re-moisten.
